Mathura, 2017.06.02 (VT): Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Swachh Bharat” initiative, students of Mathura’s Sachdeva Institute of Technology have invented a new device that would monitor the status of muncipal garbage bins.
As of now, the bins are not emptied regularly by sanitation workers, and the officials in charge are out of touch with the situation on the ground. City residents are tired of having to make phone calls to the municipality, asking for their garbage to be collected.
With the students’ invention, the officials, sitting in their offices, would receive status updates from the garbage bins themselves via SMS messages.
The new invention, which utilizes infared sensors and wifi, was created by students Aman Kumar, Saurabh, Virendra Kumar and Kusum, who are pursuing their B. Tech in Electronics at the Institute. The Institute awarded them for their inspirational work.
