Vrindavan, 2017.06.04 (VT): Devotees in Vrindavan celebrated Ganga Dusshera with great excitement yesterday. This day marks the descent of the Ganga river from the heavenly realms. Thousands of devotees flocked to their beloved Yamuna Maharani to bathe in her waters.
VT’s own Jagannth Poddar explained that the irrigation department usually releases 1,000 cusecs of extra water for the occasion each year. But unfortunately it was not done this year. Still, a large number of devotees took bath in Yamuna, reports of high pollution levels notwithstanding.
Special celebrations were held in the temples with refreshing prasad of summer fruits, and jasmine flower palaces (phool bangla) for Shri Radha and Krishna.
