Mathura, 2017.06.06 (VT): Plastic has been banned in Vrindavan and Mathura since 2014. Following the order from the state government, use of plastic bags has been replaced with cloth bags by some businesses. Yet many carry on using plastic. Thus from time to time, the police conduct plastic raids on local buisnesses.
One such raid was conducted yesterday in Mathura. Police confiscated 169 kilos of plastic bags from local businesses, and collected 1.5 lakhs of rupees in fines. Businesses that continue using plastic bags can expect more raids and fines in the future.
