Agra, 2017.06.12 (Arvind Chauhani, The Times of India): A 17-year-old student allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train near Bhuteshwar railway station Mathura after failing in Class XII exams. Studying in Jain Chourasi Inter College, Krishnanagar of Mathura, the science stream student failed in two subjects and was in deep shock.

Identified as Mahesh Kumar, the teen’s body was found 100 meters away from Buteshwar station in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. Speaking to TOI, Suresh Kumar, father of the victim said, “On Friday he went to a cyber cafe to find out about the results of his intermediate but did not returned until late at night. We tried to search for him but in vain.”

“On Saturday police informed us about my son’s body being recovered from the railway tracks. Inside his trouser pocket, we found the marksheet. Though he didn’t leave any note, I believe he just couldn’t accept the result. We never pressurised him, he was a decent boy among the four siblings,” said Suresh who is autorickshaw driver.

The victim’s body was handed over to the family after post mortem. Meanwhile, the government railway police also reported about two more casualties of two people being run over early on Saturday morning from Mathura station.

According to station officer Vijay Singh of GRP Mathura Cantt, “A 65-year-old unknown woman was run over by a train at platform number 6 at around 5:40 am, while a 35-year-old unidentified man travelling from Delhi Sarai Rohilla to Agra came under the wheels of a trains at platform number 4 after his leg slipped from the footrest.”

“We only managed to recover a general ticket from the man’s body but couldn’t establish his identity,” said the officer.
