Vrindavan, 2017.06.15 (VT): The main Jagannath Temple in Vrindavan will not be able to take Jagannath for his annual Ratha Yatra around the city this year, due to bad roads.
According to the mahant (abbot) of the temple, Shri Swami Gyan Prakash Puriji, this year the Rath will only circle around Gyan Gudri and return back to the temple.
In years past, Jagannath’s Rath would proceed from Gyan Gudri to Gopinath Bazaar, Rangji Mandir, Nagar Palika, Anaj Mandi, Bankhandi, Loi Bazar, Shahji Mandir, Radharaman Mandir and Gopinath Mandir before returning to Gyan Gudri.
The State government under Yogi Adityanath had set a deadline of June 15th to fill all the potholes in the state, but the condition of Vrindavan’s has only become worse.
The short Ratha Yatra will be held on June 25th.
