Vrindavan, 2015.12.02 (VT): In a two-day event, more than five thousand sadhus and widows were invited for the annual grand feast at Prem Mandir.
Volunteers from the Jagat Guru Kripalu Parishat welcomed and assisted them to the seating area, where a grand feast was served. A gift bag which included items of daily use and a cash donation of Rs. 1000 was given to saints and widows on two separate consecutive days.
The widows had never received such a welcome before, as the volunteers washed their feet with respect before guiding them to the seating area where the grand feast was served.
Earlier, volunteers from the Parishat visited each and every ashram in Vrindavan to identify needy people. A coupon was given to each of the beneficiaries and their photos were taken, so that the charity would go to the right person.
According to one widow who attended the feast, “The compassion and respect shown by the volunteers proves that they are the great disciples of a great Guru. Their souls are so enlightened that they don’t differentiate between poor and rich.”
The gifts were also distributed in Barsana and other surrounding villages.
“We are following the great tradition established by Jagat Guru Kripalu ji Maharaj to honor the saints and widows. Maharaj ji himself used to distribute gifts to needy people,” said JKP presidents Dr. Vishakha Tripathi, Dr. Shyama Tripathi and Dr. Krishna Tripathi.
Hundreds of devotees and volunteers came from around the world to participate in the event, which was begun by their Guru Shri Kripalu ji Maharaj.
