India is an agro economy hence, it will not be difficult to understand the relevance of clean river water for agricultural purpose. ‘Yamuna Mission’ is an organisation that is contributing to this common cause, of keeping the Yamuna water clean. Here is a brief account of the organisation’s endeavour till date:
This view below is of the Yamuna River close to the river bank. Earlier people used to dump garbage here, thinking it to be a sewer but today this place has been cleaned up and amazingly transformed. People take regular dips here, and use this place for recreational activities. With the greenery restored, this place has been transformed into a sightseeing location for Yamuna devotees.
Raman Reti, Gokul: Saplings planted by Yamuna Mission workers have grown. The aim is to increase the green cover in the area.

Krishna Yamuna bank: Trees were planted after cleaning the area. The plants are watered daily by workers to help them grow and ensure a healthy environment.
Near the Krishnaganga Ghat Yamuna Mission workers are planting Banana saplings to ensure a balanced and fresh environment for the future.
In Karshni Kund, Govardhan, after cleaning the water body it was filled with fresh water. Devotees are now taking regular dips in the kund. The two pictures below highlight the transformation of the Karshni Kund.
In Mathura, Chakra Teerth Ghat is one of the renowned ancient ghats, but despite this its upkeep was neglected for quite some time. After months of toil, the renovation work of this ghat is over, with the place now transformed into a sightseeing location for the devotees.
On the way from Chakra Teerth Ghat to Swami Ghat, beautification work around the planted trees is being carried out.
Continuous deposition of garbage had created an obstruction to the flow of the Yamuna River, which lead to flooding even when there was minor rainfall. To solve this issue, the team has started removing the dumped garbage, gradually cleaning up the Yamuna River.
Construction of the road from Swami Ghat till Kans Quila is progressing, which will allow Yamuna devotees to access the ghats and offer prayers without any inconvenience.
