Vrindavan, 2017.12.11 (VT): The Anti-Corruption Ombudsman is currently investigating allegations that the former Municipal Chairman of Vrindavan, Mukesh Gautam, embezzled Rs80 Crore funding that had been earmarked for town development.
On Thursday evening, Additional District Magistrate, Aditya Prakash Shrivastav; Executive Officer of Radhakund, Naresh, along with the treasurer, Santosh Kumar, reached the Vrindavan Municipal Corporation office. The team explored files relating to public works conducted between 2012 to 2017.
The investigators found documents relating to an underground power line; drinking water pipelines; concrete tiling of roads; files relating to funding for sewer lines, and maintenance of the town’s parks.
On June 29, social activist Madhumangal Sharan Das Shukla demanded an investigation of the financial irregularities during Mukesh Gautham’s term as chairman. On August 24, the District Magistrate began the investigation. The investigation continues.
