Janmashtami celebrations continue for second day in Mathura

Mathura, 2015.09.06 (News Nation): Excitement amongst pilgrims and locals in Mathura was at its peak as Krishna Janmastami was celebrated with traditional fervor for the second day.

The festival, while, was celebrated in three temples of Vrindaban and two temples of Mathura yesterday, it was celebrated in rest of the temples of Mathura, Vrindaban, Nandgaon and Gokul today.

The bathing ceremony (Abhishek) of principal deity performed at Bhagwat Bhavan was delightful to watch as Mahant of Mani Ram Chavani Ayodhya, Nratya Gopal Das and trustee of Sri Krishna Janmasthan, Anurag Dalmia performed the ceremony amidst sound of conch.

“The ‘prasadam’ to every visitor at Sri Krishna Janmasthan was ensured. The Nandotsava was celebrated amidst lot of fanfare in Bhagwat Bhavan today”, Kapil Sharma, the Secretary of Sri Krishna Janmasthan said.

In Dwarkadhish temple, hundreds of pilgrims watched the fanfare of Nandotsava today. People started dancing on the chorus of ‘Nand Ke Anand Bhaye Jai Kanhaiya Lal ki’ during Nandotsav in the temple.

In Vrindaban, Janmastami was celebrated in Radha Damodar and Radha Raman temple during day time. The bathing ceremony of the principal deity, was performed in Radha Raman temple in over three hours with 21 monds of milk, curd, ghee, honey, Khandsari and herbal drugs.

All the rituals like application of ‘Kajal’ in the eyes, Raae-Lon ceremony (a ceremony to ensure that no evil spirit does any harm to child) was also done.

“Since in this temple child worship (Bal Swarup Seva) is practiced, the rituals performed after the birth of a child are also performed. Even Sevayat Acharyas (priests) gave Ashirvad (blessed)to newly born child”, Dinesh Chandra Goswami, the Sevayat Acharya of Radha Raman temple stated.

Similar ‘Abhishek’ was performed in Radha Damodar temple where besides principal deity, a piece of an auspicious rock, given to Sanatan Goswami by Lord Krishna was also bathed with ingredient like milk, curd and honey.

Lot of enthusiasm was visible in Gokul where fanfare of Nandotsava was played like Holi.

“Not only pilgrims danced, but Laddus, toys, money,clothes etc were tossed in the air as mark of happiness on the arrival of Krishna in Gokul”, Narayan Tewari, a social worker said.
