Govardhan: 2018.01.18 (VT) Food for Life Vrindavan (FFLV) ran a campaign in Govardhan recently to bring some relief to widows in the area. The NGO which is primarily engaged in educating and empowering underprivileged Brijwasi girls, is now expanding its services so that more under privileged people can be helped.

Manager Yogesh Sharma said that, for the past 26 years, FFLV has been engaged in teaching and training girls from the poorest families of Braj. As part of its services to girls and women, the organization has begun to expand its services to widows. FFLV regularly carries out widow feasts and distribution of needed items at its headquarters in Vrindavan, but this was the first time that the organization has organized a program for the widows of Govardhan.

Over 550 widows received items that they are much in need of but find difficult to purchase on small pensions. All of the widows who attended the program received packages including cooking oil, clothing and snack foods.

Food for Life Vrindavan started a small school in a rented room in 1991, and now has more than 1400 girls studying across three campuses. The NGO also frequently organizes cleaning drives, plantation drives and awareness camps.
