15 00 000 visitors expected in Braj for Holi

Braj, 2018.02.09 (VT) In a 50% increase from the 10 00 000 people who visited Braj for Holi in 2017, this, year 15 lakh visitors are expected. It is estimated that almost 20 000 kilograms of gulal powder will be sold across Braj, with 3000 kg of powder being thrown in Barsana and 2000 kg in Nandagaon.

Thirty special buses will run from Mathura to Barsana on 24th  February for those wanting to see Barsana’s Lathmar Holi and perhaps catch  a glimpse of the UP Government’s politicians Holi-playing-style. CM Yogi Adityanath previously announced plans to attend Barsana’s Lathmar Holi and the list of politicians who will accompany him is growing daily. As well as the CM, other politicians who have announced their attendance at the celebrations include: Haryana Chief Minster, Manohar Lal Khatthar; Rajasthan Chief Minster, Vasundhara Raje and and Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh.

On 25th February, the special bus service will run from Mathura to Nandagaon for more Lathmar and colour Holi in the temples and streets of Nandagaon.

Holi will be celebrated across India on 2nd March. On this day, the entire Vrindavan Parikrama Marg turns pink with hundreds of kilos of coloured powder thrown by locals and tourists celebrating Holi while doing parikrama.
