2018-19 budget includes 100 crore for development of Braj’s pilgrimage sites

Braj, 2018.02.21 (VT) Most residents of Braj are happy with the Yogi government’s latest budget, which includes 100 crore funding for the Braj Vikas Tirtha Parishad to develop infrastructure and visitor services across Braj.

The state budget for 2018-9 is a total of RS 428,000 crore;  an 11% increase on last year’s budget.

70 crore Rupees are earmarked for the government’s much talked about themed tourist circuits, which were mapped out across India in 2012 and includes the ‘Krishna Circuit’ route which encourages pilgrims to visit Braj. Another  10 crore is earmarked for cultural festivals in Braj.

The government is also promising to build the biggest dairy in the state in Mathura. A total of 370 crore is to be spent on new buildings and milk processing machines at Parag dairy on the highway.

Unfortunately, the news is not all good. The government has cut the budgetary provisions for secondary education and higher education across the state, compared to that of previous government. In the 2016-17 budget presented by the erstwhile Akhilesh Yadav government, a provision of Rs 9,990 crore was made for secondary education, which has come down to only Rs 576 crore under the Yogi Adityanath government, a reduction of Rs 9,414 crore.
