Vrindavan, 2018.02.23 (VT) During a lecture at Shrutmuni Nivas, on Gandhi Marg, Radhakrishna Maharaj said that the Srimad Bhagavat Purana is the most important Purana of Hindu religion. Describing it as the essence of Vedanta, Maharaj spoke about the importance of reading the Bhagavatam daily.
Explaining why daily reading of the Bhagvatam is necessary, Maharaj said that helps a person to manage and undertand the threefold miseries, prevention of misfortune and sins, triumph over enemies, prosperity, employment, happiness, and freedom – that is, a successful life. He said that it would be more accurate to call the Bhagavatam ‘The encyclopedia of Indian religion and culture’.

Maharaj said that it is only through reading the Bhagavatam that we can easily get access to the secrets of the Vedas. He said that reading the Bhagavatam is an essential method of cleansing ourselves of the impurities inherent in ourselves and this world and that once people get the enjoyment of reading the Bhagavatam, they lose interest in worldly pleasures.
Prior to Radhakrishna Maharaj’s Katha, the Srimad Bhagavatam and the ‘katha stan’ (hall) was worshiped with pooja and chanting of Vedic mantras. Vedanand Ji Maharaj, Subhash Chandra Agarwala and Smt. Subhadra Agarwal also spoke at the event, which was enjoyed by thousands of devotees.
The occasion was attended by Mahamandleshwar Swami Bhaskarananda ji Maharaj, Swami Karshani Sharananand ji Maharaj, Swami Hariharanand ji Maharaj, Swami Devdas ji Maharaj, Swami Advaitmuni ji Maharaj, Sushil Bhai Quatra, Danvihari Gautam etc and the event was managed by Dr Anilanand ji Maharaj.
Radhakrishna Maharaj of the Vallabha Sampradaya, is a Bhagavatam speaker who has great respect for Ramesh baba. Known as ‘Bal Vyasa’ (“the boy Bhagavat speaker”), Maharaj ji is now 29 years old and has been taking an active part in various aspects of the ‘Save the Yamuna‘ movement, following the lead of Ramesh Baba of Barsana.
