Braj, 2018.02.24 (VT) In a meeting with Nishcalanand Saraswati Maharaj, the Shankar Acharya of Puri Goverdhan Peeth, CM Yogi said that the state is not trying to acquire Braj’s temples. He said that the state’s intention is to develop Braj’s temples and pilgrimage places and that the government has set aside 100 Crore Rupees for this purpose.
After arriving in Braj yesterday, the CM has attended programs in Mathura, Barsana and Vrindavan. In Vrindavan, he met Shankar Acharya and the two talked for an hour about temple related issues.
When the CM arrived for the Holi celebrations at Barsana this morning, he was welcomed by a shower of fragrant flower petals. The program began with women throwing laddoos from the temple’s terraces, then the colour wars began.
Speaking to journalists at Barsana, the CM said that he would not make any show of celebrating the festivals of other religions because he is Hindu. He said that people of other religions are free to celebrate their festivals, however he would not participate. He also added that no one asks politicians of minority religions to celebrate Hindu festivals.

During an address at the Ritotsav cultural program organized by the government in Mathura last night, the CM said that, due to the government’s investments in developing the state’s infrastructure, companies are now ready to invest in UP and the result will be that unemployment rates will be greatly reduced in the near future.
The CM, who has come under fire for participating in religious festivals, said that he intends to participate in more festivals and will bring worldwide fame to the festivals of India.
