Vrindavan, 2015.01.13 (VT, Legend News): Yamuna Rakshak Dal national director Jai Krishna Das said that without releasing water from Hathini Kund the Yamuna will never be clean. For as long as Hariyana and Delhi factories keep pumping their waste and the cities dump their sewage into the river, it will remain poisonous.

Yamuna_Sant-JaikrishnaDasIn order to publicize the dangers of Yamuna pollution, Jai Krishna Dasji has been going from village to village along the Yamuna basin inviting ordinary people from all walks of life to become members of the Yamuna Rakshak Dal. The membership drive has been conducted since the first of the year, and has been to Ral, Chattikara, Faridabad, Palwal, Agra, Mathura, and Firozabad.

Jai Krishna Dasji is calling on all to attend a meeting at the Govinda Math in Atalla Chungi in Vrindavan on Makara Sankrant, January 15.

He is especially been appealing to those who work the land and are dependent on the river as well as to other lovers of the Yamuna and the environment to come together and pressure the government to clean the Yamuna for the health and welfare of everyone living along its banks.

“This is putting the lives of people living on the banks of the Yamuna downstream in Uttar Pradesh in danger. It is now time for those who stand up and save their lives and their faith.”

The Dal’s district in-charge, Dr. Rajveer Singh, and Radhaballabh Sharma, who is responsible for the Dal’s Harinam Sankirtan currently going on at Govinda Math, said, “We are going door to door in Braj to ask everyone for their assistance in this fight to liberate the Yamuna from contamination.”

Jai Krishna Dasji says that the fight to bring back an uninterrupted flow of Yamuna water to Braj and downstream will grow in the coming year. The meeting will be for all YRD’s officers and lovers of the holy river. The meeting is to prepare the battle plans for the coming year.

Makar Sankranti is a special day for India’s rivers, especially the Ganga and Yamuna. Harinam Sankirtan has been going on for the past month at the Govinda Math to get the blessings of the Lord and to empower those who wish to see the Yamuna restored to glory.

Jai Krishna Dasji says, “The Government is able to build the Taj Expressway from Agra to Lucknow. They are able to construct a metro line from Delhi to Faridabad. So why can’t they build a 22 kilometer canal along the Yamuna banks to keep the sewage water out of the Yamuna? That way the pure Yamuna water will bypass Delhi and come further downstream to Mathura-Vrindavan. The Centre Government agreed to do this after the 2013 march to Jantar Mantar, but they have not fulfilled their promise. The purpose of this campaign is to hold them to their word.”

Jai Krishna Dasji thinks that such a parallel canal would also be helpful in Mathura-Vrindavan.
