Vrindavan, 2018.03.12 (VT) VRI is about to open its doors to the world by uploading the 30,000 manuscripts onto cloud storage. While the documents will not be available to be shared freely, they will be available to scholars for online viewing.
VRI president, R. D. Paliwal said that around 30,000 manuscripts have been digitized by the institute, but now, for the first time, they will be available online.
The VRI is also setting up a ‘Gita Research Institute’ to encourage research of scriptures. The building will be revamped by local artists and plans for a museum of Braj culture are also being discussed. The institute also plans to expand its services to Braj folk artists and those interested in the various artforms of Braj, including visual art, music Rasa Lila.
The plans are being discussed in a conference in Lucknow from 12-14 March. Attendees at the conference include: The Minister for Culture, Lakshminarayan Chaudhary, Radhakrishna Pathak, Director Satish Chandra Dikshit, District Magistrate Sarvagyaram Mishra, Padmashree Mohanswaroop Bhatia, Acharya Srivatsa Goswami, Assistant Director of the State Museum, Dr SP, FCA Manoharlal Chaturvedi, Sanskrit school secretary S.K. Sharma and Institute Secretary, Sushila Gupta.
