Vrindavan, 2018.03.21 (VT) Buegon Vladislav has been acquitted of the murder of his wife after spending almost two years in police custody. The deceased’s brother and the postmortem doctor have been accused of tampering with evidence and the court has ordered action to be taken against them.
Buegon Vladislav a.k.a Vaikuntha Gaura Das, is a Russian native ISKCON devotee who has been living in Vrindavan for many years. He married Shyamlata, daughter of Jagdish, in the year 2007.
The couple have a 9 year old daughter who was present in the house at the time of her mother’s hanging. In his statement to police, Vaikuntha Gaura Das said that Shyamlata suffered from mental illness and was undergoing treatment at Agra Mental Hospital.
Shyamlata’s mother Rajwati and sister Premlata accused Vaikuntha Gaur Das of being behind her daughter’s death. They said that he was having extramarital affairs, due to which his wife had been under a great deal of stress.
Rajwati told police that a month before, when she came to visit Shyamlata, she found her daughter vomiting and doctor’s reports showed that there she had swallowed poison.
Vaikuntha Gaura Das was taken into police custody on August 18, 2016, two weeks after his wife’s hanging. He was arrested on the basis of suspicion, after a case was filed by Shyamalata’s relatives.
Allahabad High Court’s Justice Vivekanand Sharan Tripathi heard the murder case, in which Shyamlata’s mother, brother and the postmortem doctor were the main witnesses.
Justice Tripathi ordered the release of Vaikuntha Gaura Das from prison and ordered action to be taken against Shyamlata’s brother and the postmortem doctor for giving false testimonies.
