BJP president in Vrindavan, planning national youth convention here

Vrindavan, 2016.02.09 (TOI): With the Uttar Pradesh elections just a year away, BJP is all set to launch its “Mission UP 2017” from the temple town of Vrindavan, where it is believed Lord Krishna spent his childhood, by organising a two-day national youth convention in March.

While the dates of the convention are yet to finalised. Senior BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party President Amit Shah, are expected to attend the event. The tentative dates for the meet are March 5 and 6. About 20,000 BJP youth activists are likely to participate in the convention.

Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha’s national president Anurag Thakur confirmed to TOI that Vrindavan could see the launch of the party’s election campaign for 2017 in UP. “What better place than the holy Vrindavan,” he said, before adding that the agenda and the programme of the convention is yet to be finalised.

However, BJP’s decision to select Vrindavan for launching its election campaign in the state has once again raised speculation that it would use Hindutva as its poll strategy. While indications are already there that RSS, too, wants the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya to be part of the agenda. Senior BJP leader, Subramanian Swamy, had only last month floated the idea of what he called Lord Krishna’s package to Muslims — “Give us 3 temples and keep 39,997 masjids”.

Incidentally, the UP elections, which are likely to be held around the same time as Punjab, are crucial for BJP, especially in the backdrop of its humiliating defeats in Delhi and Bihar. BJP was in power in UP till 2002, with current home minister Rajnath Singh as chief minister. It was then a part of the ruling coalition government with BSP at the helm after the 2002 assembly polls, but the alliance lasted just a year.

More from Dainik Bhaskar: BJP president Amit Shah arrived in Mathura on Monday accompanied by his family. He visited Bankebihari and offered his worship to the deity. He then participated in the inauguration of the new Priyakanta Jiu temple of Devakinandan Thakur near Akshay Patra. Shah there said in his discourse that the BJP came into power and will govern the country with the blessings of the saints. The BJP government wants to see India develop both materially and spiritually and to spread India’s spiritual message around the world.

Praising PM Narendra Modi he listed many of the PM’s initiatives:

Most countries are now celebrating World Yoga Day. He added that Modi is the first Indian prime minister who speaks reverently of the holy rivers Ganga and Yamuna as goddesses. He is working hard to improve the situation of the Ganga from Gangotri to Ganga Saagar. He was also the first PM to attend the Ganga Aarti in Varanasi.

Millions of Indians are satisfied with the idea of preserving its unique culture while also moving forward. The popularity of yoga has made it evident that people will have to look to India to deepen their knowledge of this ancient science.

Meanwhile, he observed that Vrindavan consciousness is working inside the country. Lord Krishna is the connecting factor between Gujarat and Vrindavan, and that gives us new energy whenever we come here. We feel empowered and enthused when we come to this place where Lord Krishna was born and grew up.

The BJP Mahila Morcha (women’s front) demonstrated in front of his car, but the situation was quickly brought under control by the police.
