Rajbhog padas can express multiple moods according to the season. Now, of course, everything is about colour. Thus the Spring Season is very joyous, especially after the cool calm of winter.”

“Lunchtime Play!”
कुँज में बैठे जुगल किशोर ।
अरस परस दोऊन खात खवावत
रुचिसों दै दै कौर ॥ १ ॥
ललितादिक सब सखी परोसति
लोचन किये चकोर ।
मधु मेवा पकवान मिठाई
लावनिहै चहुँ ओर ॥ २ ॥
हासविलास विविध रस पीवत
मधुर वचन चित चोर ।
तनमनधन वारति परमानन्द
करि अंचल की छोर ॥ ३ ॥
“Kunja meṁ baiṭhe jugalakiśora |
Arasa parasa doū khāta khavāvata
Ruci soṁ de de kaura ||1||
Lalitādika saba sakhī parosati,
Locana kiye cakora |
Madhu meva pakavāna miṭāī
Lāvatai hai cahu aura ||2||
Hāsa vilāsa vividha rasa pīvata,
madhura vacana citta cora |
Tana mana dhana vārati paramānanda,
Kari aṁcala kī chora ||3||
“The Divine Couple are sitting in Their Forest Bower. They are Both eating and lovingly sharing with One Another. ||1||
Lalita and all the other Sakhis, their eyes wide like the cakora bird staring at the moon, serve Them Their meal. They carry to Them many varieties of delightful preparations. ||2||
The Poet Paramanandadas now sings, “They are enjoying the happy mood and tasting all sorts of nectarean loving exchanges. Their sweet voices steal away my very heart of hearts. I now spread the end of my veil before Them and surrender up my body, mind and wealth.” ||3||

अवलंबित नागर नंदलाल ॥ ३ ॥
नवगोपवधू राजतहेंसंग ।
गजमोतिन सुंदर लसत मंग ॥ ४ ॥
नवकेसरि मेद अरगजा घोरि ।
छिरकत नागरिकों नवकिसोर ॥ ५ ॥
तहां गोपीग्वाल सुंदर सुदेस ।
राजतमाला विविध केस ॥ ६ ॥
नंदनंदन को भुवविलास ।
सदां रहो मन सूरदास ॥ ७ ॥

“Sri Krishna, Protector of the cows, is playing Holi in Sri Vrindavan. Groups of Gopis join Him there. ||1||
The youthful beauties are like fresh tamal trees in blossom. They are flowering like freshly-sprouted mango trees in the midst of blossoming Lotus flowers. ||2||
They hold lovely flower garlands that they have prepared in their hands and they place these around the neck of Sri Krishna, Prince and Son of Nanda. ||3||
He is surrounded by the youthful Gopis whose partings are decorated with pearls. ||4||
The delightful Sri Krishna sprays and sprinkles them with freshly prepared saffron water scented with musk and flower oils. ||5||
All of the cowherd boys and girls are looking most comely with their flower garlands and beautiful hair. ||6||
Thus does Nanda’s Son play in this Sacred Land. The poet Surdas sings, “Let this scene be always present in my heart and mind.” ||7||
