Brajawasi’s cheer for Amma and ask for her help in Yamuna restoration

Vrindavan 2016.04.09 (VT): Maa Amritanandmayi Amma (Amma) showered motherly love and blessings on everyone during her very first visit to Vrindavan. She hugged and blessed all with a new energy. Many people started crying out of their affection for her.

The famous saint from Kerala, Amma, was in Vrindavan and attended a Braj Mahotsava, which was organized for her benefit by The Braj Foundation under the direction of Vineet Narain, its CEO.

Thousands of people attended the program at Fogla Ashram in Raman Reti, including thousands of devotees from South India and abroad who accompanied her to the holy city

People started coming from early in the morning, whereas Amma only came around 10 am. Vineet Narain started the program by giving a welcome speech for Amma. He recounted how he had gone to meet Ammachi in Amritapuri, her immense ashram complex in Kerala, six months ago to tell her about TBF’s work in the Braj area. He said that though he was given only fifteen minutes to speak, Ammachi had been so impressed by the ideals of TBF and its successful implementations that she talked with him for ninety minutes and agreed to make this visit to Vrindavan.

Vineetji also addressed the Yamuna issue and asked Amma to support the initiative to make Yamuna clean. After describing the current condition of the holy river, he said, “You have proven that you have the shakti of the Mother Goddess. And you also have the shakti that comes with the wealth. With  this potency, you can surely help to restore the Yamuna to her former glory.” With those words, he became too emotional to continue speaking.

He was followed by speeches in the same vein given by Govindananda Tirth Swami, Gopal Sharan Devacharya, Vaishnavacharya Padmanabh Goswami, Saurabh Gaud and Mridul Kant Shastri. Many, many other guests from Vrindavan’s sant samaj were present on the stage to honor Ammachi.

Mahant Fuldol Bihari Baba said, “In wealth you are Lakshmi, in knowledge you are Saraswati and in strength you are Durga. If you now give your blessings here in this sacred land, on the auspicious first day of the New Year, on the Navaratri when we worship the Mother Goddess, we are sure that all the problems of pollution will be solved.”

Ammachi’s own discourse, bhajan, and guided meditation all followed. In her talk, she also addressed the Yamuna problem. Speaking in Malayalam with a Hindi translator, she said, “If everyone is made aware of the situation, then there is no doubt that it will be corrected. We know that the Ganga is polluted, but that the Yamuna is even more so. The problem will only be solved when the factories and chemical waste stop getting dumped in the river. Without a collective effort in which all strata of society participate, there will be no success.”

She said that she had formed a team in her ashram to monitor the situation and to see how she and her followers could best contribute to the effort and assist government and  non-government organizations to move the work forward.

After the discourse of Amma, she gave a lesson on the “Dhyan Sadhna”  followed by kirtan. She also announced the adopting of Raal village on the road between Chattikara and Radha Kund, which is now to be counted as one of 108 villages adopted across India by the Maa Anandamayi Math.

At the end of the program, she hugged every person who presented themselves to her. In all, it was said several times that Ammachi has embraced more than 50 million people over the years. She was still hugging devotees until late afternoon.

People started cheering for Amma and many started crying out of their affection and love for Amma.

The District Magistrate Mr. Rajesh Kumar and President of Municipal Corporation Mr. Mukesh Gautam were also present to welcome Amma, along with many saints, Goswami’s, Yamuna activists, chairman of universities and colleges, and other social workers.
