Mathura, Vrindavan 2016.04.25 (VT): An electric crematorium is being proposed for the city of love and devotion. This crematorium will have facilities for electric as well as wood-fire cremation. The total project cost for building this crematorium is estimated at approximately ₹3.5 crore.
Around 18 years back, plans for an electric crematorium were tabled alongside the Yamuna in Mathura. The building was then half constructed at the cost of ₹10 lac, that time, but this was never completed and has been now reduced to ruins. The issue has been still pending with the Yamuna Executive Committee for this long intervening period, but no action has yet been taken. As a result, some organisation then voluntarily converted the nearby Dhruva Ghat into a cremation ground.
After all this time, the MVDA is again planning to act on the electronic crematorium, under the leadership of Vice Chairman Mr. C.P. Singh, who wants to develop it on the same lines as in the bigger cities. It has been planned on the same ground of the previous half-constructed crematorium building.
