Vrindavan, 2016.04.27 (VT): The poor quality of the developmental work exposed once again, on the Parikrama Marg, in front of the ancient Madan Mohan Mandir. A portion of the road has caved in causing a threat to the pedestrians and passing vehicles. Traffic snarls could be seen on this road due to the damage on the road.
A crater like hole of 6 meter by 2 meter appeared on the side of the cemented road forming a cave under it. The layer of the cemented road can be easily separated from the soil under it. If the vaccum under the road is not immediately filled with concrete, it may invite a major accident claiming many lives.
The cemented road on the Parikrama Marg was built during the regime of the then Mayavati government in 2009, when it gave a package of more than 300 crore for the developmental work in Vrindavan. The construction of the half circular bridge was also part of that project.
This portion of the Parikrama Marg was named as VIP road, as people travelling in cars can have easier access to the approach road to the Banke Bihari Temple from here.
Several cars, buses and other heavier vehicles pass through this road everyday. A little carelessness can turn fatal while walking or driving on the road.
The activists from the Braj Vrindavan Heritage Alliance sent the images of the broken road to the Vice Chairman of the Mathura Vrindavan Development Authority. The activist showed the broken road to the District Magistrate when he came for the darshan at the Banke Bihari Mandir. The DM promised immediate action to repair this road.
Shri Tamal Krishna Das, a senior member of the BVHA said, “The road shouldn’t have been paved in the first place, as this path was meant to be used barefooted for performing Parikrama.”
“This portion of the Parikrama Marg has become very busy because of the easy access to the Banke Bihari Mandir. Hundreds of cars pass through this road. There is not proper arrangement of street light in the night. A little carelessness can become threat to life”, said Shri Purushottam Sharma, a resident of this locality
