Damodar became Vaman to celebrate the Vaman Jayanti

Vrindavan September 25: Vaman Jayanti, the appearance day of Lord Vaman was celebrated in Vrindavan on Friday. It is celebrated on the 12 day of the bright fortnight in the month of Bhadra Pada (August – September). On this day Lord Vishnu took incarnation of Vaman (dwarf) to contain the demon King Bali, who was becoming a threat for Indra’s throne. King Bali was himself was a great devotee.
The deities in various temples of Vrindavan were dressed as ‘Vaman’ avatar. Vishnu Sahashra Naam, Narayan Mantra were chanted in the temples. The Shaligram or the Krishna deities were bathed with Panchamrita. The Puja began with beej mantra followed by offering of a seat (asana) to the Lord.
Devotees observed fast till 12 noon following their fasting day on Ekadashi. It is said that one who fasts on this day is blessed and protected from all kinds of danger. The devotees visited the temples of their choices to commemorate the pastime of Vaman incarnation. Shri Krishna Balaram Goswami, the sevait of Radha Damodar Mandir said, “We must respect the choice of the devotees, as they want to see their adored in different forms. Therefore we dressed Shri Damodar as Vaman Dev, so that the devotees can relish both the forms of the Lord together,”
The Brahmin organizations in Vrindavan and Mathura took out processions in different parts of the towns carrying the images of Vaman Dev. ‘Brahmin Seva Sangh’ organized two days event in which a cultural programme was organized and scholarships were distributed among the students. On the last day of the two days event the Brahman Seva Sangh took out a procession in which a boy was dressed as Vaman Avtar carrying umbrella in his hands. The procession was welcomed with Aarti in different colonies and roads from where it passed.
Shri Damodar Shashtri, the vice president of the organization said, “We shall invite all the Brahmin organizations come together to celebrate the appearance day of the Vaman Dev in a grand way in coming years.
