Vrindavan, May 31, 2016 (VT): Shri Panchayati Gaushala, one of the oldest Gaushala of Vrindavan was visited by the Chief Development Officer of Mathura, Shri Manish Kumar Verma on Friday. He visited the various cow shelters inside its campus and the cow hospital run by the Gaushala.
Shri Radha Krishna Pathak, the Secretary and Shri Champa Lal Bhuwalka, the joint secretary and Jagannath Poddar, the advisor to the Gaushala accompanied him during the visit.
The C.D.O. was informed by the office bearers of the Gaushala that the gaushala houses over fifteen hundred indigenous cows of different breeds. The old and sick cows are brought to the gaushala are taken care by a team of veterinarian doctors. Most of the cows are those abandoned by their owners after they stop lactating.
Shri Radha Krishna Pathak informed, “Our Gaushala altogether owns 350 acres of land in Vraja. We grow organic green fodder in the fertile land, which are brought to the gaushala every day in trucks to feed the cows. We wish to help the other gaushalas also by providing the green fodder.”
Shri C.L. Bhuwalka said, “We are working toward making the Gaushala self sustainable. We have installed a bio – gas plant, producing vermi-compost organic manure and soon we shall start producing pesticides made of cow urine. We can make it an exemplary Gaushala if the government supports us.”
The C.D.O was very happy to visit the Gaushala and fed jaggery to the cows. He said that all possible help will be provided to the Gaushala from the District Agriculture Department and the District Administration.
