Vrindavan 2016.06.06 (VT): The ornaments of Thakur Bankey Bihari Ji don’t get listed as one ex-member of refused to give one key of the security vault. The member had been at the post of chairman and vice chairman in the organizing committee of the temple earlier.
Thakur Ji gets donations from his devotees which range from cash to precious ornaments. These ornaments are then sealed in iron containers in the presence of administrative personnel and committee members.
Gaurav Goswami, who had been the chairmen for first three months and vice-chairman for further 45 days, was charged with keeping the keys of these iron containers. This modus operandi has been in use since 2013 when the current organizing committee was formed. Now a new organizing committee is taking shape and is supposed to take charge from July onwards.
The present committee planned to take inventory of all the precious ornaments before handing over the charge to the new committee. Out of a total of 4 iron containers, one was opened by the organizing committee to list the ornaments inside. For the rest three containers, Gaurav Goswami had the keys, but claimed to have lost them. The organizing committee has not got the authority to break the seal in order to open the containers and complete the process of listing the ornaments.
The present chairman, Nandakishor Upamanyu, said that the committee wants to utilize the ornaments gifted by the devotees. He said that the previous organizing committee had been planning to melt the gold jewelry in order to make a stool or some other utility item for Thakur Ji.
