Mathura, 2016.06.06 (VT): The national papers are full of investigations into the mysterious figure of Ram Vriksh Yadav, who was the leader of the political/religious cult that entered into a pitched battle with police at Jawahar Bagh in Mathura a few days ago. We have not been reporting on these incidents in any great detail here on Vrindavan Today, even though the whole of Braj has been put into a state of shock by the events, as the story is being widely reported elsewhere.
A meeting was held at the Hit Mandal ashram Gandhi Road on Saturday in commemoration of SP (City) Mukul Dwivedi, who was gunned down during the operation at Jawahar Bagh. He was known to many in Vrindavan and well-liked by all.
On hearing that the district administration intended to cremate the body of Ram Vriksha Yadava and others from the Netaji Subhash Sena in Vrindaban, some sants vigorously opposed the decision saying they were “terrorists” and had killed good police officers.
“We shall not allow the pious land of Vrindaban to become unpious,” sants led by Mahant Fuldol Maharaj and Mahamandaleshwar Naval Giri Maharaj told the police, after which the last rites were performed in Mathura.
Doctors conducted the post-mortem of Ram Vriksha Yadav, who had led the squatters of Jawahar Bag, and was among 29 killed in the clash with the police before he was cremated here.
Police did not hand over the body of Ram Vriksha to one of his council members Tarni Kumar Gautam, who had came to claim it, after conducting of post-mortem along with 18 others including two woman, police said.
The post-mortems were conducted by a team of five doctors led by Assitant CMO Brajesh Khanna, including Dr Bhudeo, Dr Anup Chaudhari, Dr Mahipal Singh and Dr Amit Agrawal.
“One of them has been identified as Finku Chauhan, resident of Ambapur in Azamgarh, the other as 40-year-old Mahesh Jaiswal of Gay Ghat in Siddhartha Nagar district,” they said.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner Aligarh, who is heading the administrative probe, Chandra Kant, said he would resume his inquiry on Jawahar Bag next week.
“We shall hold next phase of inquiry next week. The exact date and timings would be communicated later,” Commissioner Chandra Kant added.
