Vrindavan 2016.08.02 (VT): Some sants who went missing during the illegal demolition of the Nepali Bhajan Kuti are still untraceable even nine months after the incident. The residents of the ashram and relatives of the half dozen missing sants are pleading to the police and city administration for some answers.
Land grabbers attacked the Chamunda Colony-situated ashram on the night of November 5 last year. They even demolished a portion of the ashram with the help of JCBs in an effort to occupy the land.
Bal Krishna das Devacharya (secretary of ashram) said that the land mafia not only robbed them, but kidnapped half a dozen sants sleeping in ashram, along with some cattle. As per the FIR, the names of the missing sants are Gopal Das Baba, Kanhaiya Baba, Shyam Sharan Baba, Vishambhardas Baba, Priya Sharan Baba and Ramdhar Baba.
The city administration already started a probe after suspending the area officer and some policemen. Investigating officer Uday Pratap had enquired from the sants and locals of the area looking for clues. The investigation ran for a month but was suspended after the Police was unable to make any progress.
Many relatives of the lost sants have also come to Vrindavan from Nepal to try to push the investigation along.
