Vrindavan 2016.08.08 (VT): State Tourism Minister Om Prakash inaugurated 10 kunds restored recently under the development plans announced by the Chief Minister earlier. He reached the Kadamb Ter area near Nand Gaon yesterday at around 3 pm where he inaugurated the Kadamb Ter Kund. He also unveiled the foundation stones for 9 more kunds that have been restored recently.
While at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Om Prakash also planted a tree to give a message to society about the lost forests of Braj. In his speech, the Tourism Minister said that Nand Gaon is very well known globally and the State Government is trying to get global recognition for Braj as a whole. He said that Government is trying to boost tourism in Braj, which will boost the economy and living standards of the people besides giving more employment opportunities to locals.
Chairman of Nand Gaon Mr. Badan Singh Pahalwan welcomed Mr. Om Prakash by gifting him a turban. Rahul Patel, a member of the Nand Gaon administrative committee, gave the Minister a silver crown.
The restoration work was done by Vrindavan-based NGO The Braj Foundation headed by Mr. Vineet Narayan. Besides Kadamb Ter Kund, the other kunds restored are Lalita Kund, Panihari Kund, Dhruv Kund, Shyam Talai Vanshi Vat, Bachad Kund Pani Gaon, Gop Talai Kund, Putna Kund and Kamal Kund.
The Tourism Minister said that Asheshwar Kund will be restored next as per the development plans by the State Government.
