Mathura 2016.08.09 (VT): Mathura city administration is planning to build multi-level parking spots in the city following the Adarsh Mathura plan. The blueprint calls for three multi-level parking places to be developed in two areas of the city: near Shri Krishna Janmbhumi and in Dampier Nagar.
The parking place development at Janmabhumi is also a part of the Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY Yojana) plan of Central Government to develop Mathura region as a heritage city.
The second parking place at Dampier Nagar will be developed b Mathura Vrindavan Development Authority (MVDA). Both these parking places will be multi-level to curb the parking problem of the city.
The city administration is now doing the surveying so the blueprint can be prepared and costs estimated, which will be submitted to Government soon. Along with these plans, 14 more places have been identified to for multi-level parking lots. These include Mandi Crossing, Krishnapuri Crossing, Govardhan Crossing, BSA College, Amar Hotel Palace, Registry Office, the Collectorate and Judicial area, Potra Kund, Govindnagar Police Station, BS Nursing, Mehta Nursing, Swami Ghat, Anguri Vatika and near Jubilee Park Government Hospital.
At the moment, the Government has given contracts to local contractors to manage parking in these areas, which will be later developed as multi level parking zones. DM Nikhil Chandra Shukla said that the efforts are on and public will see results soon.
The construction of a multi-level parking facility in Vrindavan is in its last stages. The parking place being developed at Rukmini Vihar will be able to accommodate 700 vehicles once completed. Similar parking places will be developed at Darukh parking place, Pagal Baba ashram, Cheer Ghat, near the Iskcon temple and at Kalidah.
