Vrindavan 2016.08.19 (VT): Terrorism is a real issue in India, as residents of Mathura are well aware. With various terrorist groups active in the Indian subcontinent, a Hindu pilgrimage area like Mathura-Vrindavan, which attracts huge crowds on various holy days during the year, careful attention must be paid to security. This is especially noticeable at the Sri Krishna Janma Bhoomi, which has its own Central Reserve Police detachment permanently stationed there.
The world’s tallest temple dedicated to “Vrindavan Chandra” Krishna is currently under construction. Since it is expected to be a magnet for both pilgrims and tourists from around the world, its designers are taking the terrorism threat seriously.
Temple committee will be taking help of American security firms to secure the temple and campus.
The temple is being built at Chatikara road in Vrindavan on an area of 65 acres. The 70-storey temple will be 700 feet in height making it the world’s tallest temple after it is completed. But in the wake of rise in terrorist attacks all over the world, the temple will be trying to secure the premises by hiring American security agencies.
Project director Suvyakta Narasingha Das said that they are in talks with an American organisation which will be preparing the security blue print for the temple.
It is not just in the provision of police detachments and other kinds of security arrangements. The building’s construction is also being done in such a way that it will be able to resist bomb blasts. For instance, the structure itself will be built using “Sika Micro Concrete” which is 10 times stronger than cement. In the event of a bomb attack, this will provide extra security to temple sewayats, devotees and others.
Apart from that, “Ground Granulated Blast Slag” (GGBS) from Tata Steel is also being used, reducing cement use to less than 30%. GGBS is used to make durable concrete structures in combination with ordinary cement. It increases the durability of concrete and extends the lifespan of buildings from fifty years to a hundred years.
The temple committee is planning to build artificial mountains, forests and a exhibition gallery to demonstrate the past times of Radha ad Krishna. An artificial river is so being prepared to give a natural look and feel of Braj.
