Mathura 2016.08.24 (VT): UP State Government has released more funds for Braj region, in the complementary budget presented on Tuesday. Jawahar Bagh has been allotted 15 crore rupees for beautification, whereas farmers affected by the Gokul Barrage will get 2 crore extra compensation, over and above the previously allotted amount.
The complementary budget was presented before CM Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday. It included more funding for the developmental projects in the region of Braj.
Besides the amount allotted in the earlier budget, 15 crores extra has been set aside for the beautification of Jawahar Bagh, which has been a reason of shame for the State Government. The Chief Minister has asked for it to be developed like Lohia Park in Lucknow.
Rajkiya Nirman Nigam has sent a DPR for additional 62 crore rupees for Jawahar Bagh project against which 15 crores has been approved by the CM.
The farmers displaced by the construction of Gokul Barrage too got an additional compensation of 2 crore rupees. These farmers were displaced 18 years back after the construction of barrage, but did not get adequate compensation then. Two years back, they engaged in a mass protest for compensation of a total of 700 crore rupees, most of which has already been distributed among them now. On the birthday of the Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha leader and farmers representative Kunwar Singh Nishad, Government announced extra compensation for farmers.
Government has also approved 5 crore rupees for the beautification of around 50 kunds. These kunds will be developed according to the cultural and traditional values of Braj.
5 lakh rupees has also been approved for free train travel for the widows of Vrindavan. This was already announced during the Vrindavan visit of the CM few days back.
