Vrindavan 2016.09.01 (VT): Heavy rainfall on Wednesday brought some relief from the hot and humid weather, but has resulted in water logging at many places. A rain poured heavily for around 2 hours, main areas and important streets of the city got chocked causing trouble to devotees all day long.
VidyaPith crossing, old Vrindavan areas and Parikrama Marg near Keshi Ghat was submerged in rain water. Many areas in Mathura were also water logged which was 1-2 feet deep at places. Apart from that, unexpected rains have also caused heavy loss to farmers by destroying their Arhar and Cotton crops in many acres of land.
Farmers were already in problem as last year also these crops were destroyed by drought and then sudden hailstorm causing heavy losses. This year unseasonal rains again caused further losses to them.
Lakhan Singh Rana, Ganga Prasad, Bhagwan Singh and Mahavir Singh (all are farmers from Surir Kalan) said that cotton crops were ripening but due to rains, all the crops have rotten. Jite Singh (City Chairman of KIsan Sangharsh Samiti), Thakur Satyendra Singh (State Chairman of Kisan Vikas Samiti) has urged the city administration to come for the help of farmers in the region.
