Mathura 2016.09.05 (VT): The Bridge over the Bathain drain broke down few days back amid heavy rainfall which restricted many farmers to stay at home only rather than going on the other side to check their farms. But after waiting for two days for the city administration to reconstruct the broken bridge, villagers made their own temporary bridge on Sunday.

Chatta to Barsana road leads to Pisava via Khayra which has Baithan drain on the way. This bridge on this drain was the only way to connect Nodhauli and Pisava villages. Many farmers from Pisava have their farming lands on the other side of the bridge also.

Initially the Village Panchayat reported to the city administration about the poor condition of the bridge but no action was taken till the time it broke down two days back in the heavy rainfall. Besides bothering farmers, the situation also stopped devotees to visit Pisava and encircle “Ashvathama ki Jhaadi”, especially on Saturday. The drain is bit huge and deep also and the water flow is high during the rainy season.

After seeing no response from the city administration for two days, the villagers under the leadership of Village Panchayat Chairman Kali Charan, reconstructed a temporary bridge using cemented electric pillars. The reconstruction of the temporary bridge took around 4 hours of hard work from the villagers. Though the danger is still there as the bridge doesn’t have any railings and is very thin, which has increased the danger of anyone falling into the deep drain.
