Hindustani Classical ragas enthral Vrindavan during Radhashtami

Vrindavan 2016.09.10 (VT): An amazing two day festival of Hindustani classical dance and music concluded on Friday.  This festival was organised by Swami Haridas Sangeet Evam Nritya Mahotsava, to celebrate the appearance day of the Legendary saint Swami Haridas, who manifested Thakur Banke Bihari. This Mahotsav is celebrated in his remembrance and best of Indian and International music by inviting celebrated artists, eminent musicians and dancers.

Inauguration on first day of Swami Haridas Mahitsav

BJP leader Shri CP Thakur, Abhishek Brahmachari,  Pradeep Mathur (MLA), Shyam Sundar Sharma (MLA), Swami Maheshananda Saraswati, Naam Dev Sharma, Gopi Goswami jointly lighted the lamp to inaugurate the mega cultural show on the first day.

The session of the first day begun with the folk dance performed by the students of Swami Haridas Sangeet evam Nritya Academy, this was much applauded by the audience.

Swam Haridas Mahotsav
The soulful presentations of the melodious song performed by Grammy award winner Shri Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, with the brilliant accompaniment by his son Pt. Salil Bhatt on Vina left the audience immersed in the complete devotion of Shri Krishna on Thursday. He sang the songs depicting the love between Radha and Krishna.

The devotional tunes plucked on the strings of Vina by Pt. Salil Bhatt kept the audiences captivated in the devotional mood.  The tunes of Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Vande Matram and Ishwar Allah Tero Naam were played on Vina.

The classical music of ‘Thumri’ performed by Padma Vibhushan Pandit Channu Lal Mishra from Varanasi enthralled everyone present during the event.  He performed ‘Thumri’ based on ‘Rag Yaman Kalyan’. The lyrics of the song depicted the pastimes of Lord Krishna, how he stole the butter, and lifted the Govardhan Hill. He also presented the bhajans on “Rag Dadra”.

Pandit Ram Kumar Mishra on Tabla, Kumari Namrta Mishra on Tanpura, Zakir Dhaulpuri on Harmonium and Aman Jain as vocal singer also performed on Thursday.

Inaugrating second day of Swami Haridas Mahotsav

The second day’s session was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Justice Ramesh Chandra Tiwari,  Swami Maheshanand Sraswati, BJP Spokesperson Chandra Mohan and Gopi Goswami, Dr. Nitin Bansal (District Magistrate) and SSP Babloo Kumar were also present during the lamp lightings.

Acclaimed tabla maestro Gautam Dhar begun the second day’s performances by ‘Guru stuti’ to pay tribute to Swami Haridas, who was Guru of the famous singer Tansen from Akbar’s court.

After the tabla performance of Gautam Dhar, the world famous sufi singer Dr.  Mamta Joshi enthralled the event with her sufi songs.

Dr. Joshi made the evening even more interesting her devotional songs written by Sant Kabir and Amir Khusro and Shakeel. She also sung the songs written by Swami Haridas depicting the pastimes of Lord Krishna. These songs are being sung by a Muslim family from the past 300 years.
