Vrindavan 2016.09.23 (VT): The progress of Yamuna Riverfront Development project in Vrindavan, which is one of the dream projects of Akhilesh Yadav’s Government, way behind the set targets and is highly expected to miss the deadline of December. The new deadline is now supposed to be April 2017.
According to the earlier plans, around 2 kilometres of parallel drain should have been completed by now. But only 450 metres have been done by the contractor. Sant Jai Krishna Das (National Chairman of Yamuna Rakshak Dal) and Dr. Ashok Agarwal (senior SP leader) inspected the growth yesterday and came up with the sad results.
As per the project, a parallel drainage system will be constructed from Yugal Ghat till Shamshaan Ghat via Keshi Ghat to take the sewer water away from the Vrindavan riverfront. Chief Engineer of the project Gulesh Kumar set the deadline as December previously. UP Project Corporation (project contractor) has was already rebuked by the City Magistrate Ram Araj Yadav few days back because of the slow pace of work.
