Vrindavan 2016.09.24 (VT): Gurumat Samagam was celebrated in a grand way at the Guru Nanak Teela Gurudwara. The Guru Nanak Teela is the only Gurudwara of Vrindavan. When Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism came to Vrindavan, he took rest in a teela (mound). Later the mound was leveled with the ground, where a grand Gurudwara was built.
The Gurumat Samagam is organised to honour the Sikh Gurus. The Sikh community form across the country, Dharmaprachar Committee, Shiromani Gurudwara Organising Committee and Amritsar Sahib celebrated the event exuberantly on Thursday in the city.
Two days long festival was organised to celebrate the first enlightenment of Guru Granth Sahib concluded at 9 am on Thursday. Non stop reading of the verses from Shri Guru Granth Sahib was carried out verses for two days, followed by kirtan and katha form the senior Sikh sants. During the end of the programme, all the participants performed “ardas” (prayers of Sikhs) cumulatively.
Langar (free food) was distributed among the large number of devotees, who participated in the festival for two days. The celebration also included the cultural programmes which fascinated the devotees, besides a devotional environment was maintained.
Devotees from Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Delhi under the leadership of Baba Vachan Singh, Sardar Balvinder Singh from Dharmaprachar Committee, and devotees from round the country were present during the ceremony.
