The construction of the ring road will begin soon, as the first installment of the allotted fund has been released. The proposed ring road will help Govardhan getting major relief from the traffic jam during the weekends and the festive seasons. As the heavy vehicles will not enter the city, it is expected that the pollution level will also go down drastically.
The ring road will not pass through Radha Kund and will be constructed bypassing it.
The Govardhan ring road project is one of the 24 dream project of UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The Public Works department had made a proposal of Rupees 71.47 Crore to construct the ring road around Radha Kund and Govardhan.
Special Secretary of UP Government Dr. Roshan Jacob wrote a letter to the Chief Engineer (Development) and the Department head of the Public Works Department about the release of the first installment. The letter was marked to the Divisional Commissioner of Agra and the District Magistrate of Mathura.
Under this project, ten kilometers long outer Parikrama will be constructed. The District Administration has to face difficulty in managing the crowd during the seven days long Mudiya Puno Mela (Guru Punrima). Temporary Parking is made on the approach roads to Govardhan.
A bypass road was also built at Aring, which has helped enormously to ease the traffic. The project includes Rs. 50 lakh for the utility shifting and Rs. 191.77 for tree plantation. Trees will be planted on 14.055 hectare land.
