Vrindavan, 2016.12.25 (Vishakha Dasi): On the 14th of December 2016, Food for Life Vrindavan’s founder Rupa Raghunath Das received the Swayam Award for 2016. The award was given by the honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Akhilesh Yadav at a ceremony organised by Gaon Connection Foundation.
Food for Life Vrindavan (FFLV) has served the children and other residents of Shri Vrindavan Dham for the last twenty-five years. They currently have three schools that provide free education, books, uniforms, and nutritious meals to 1,300 local children. Their long-time efforts in the field of girls’ education and women’s empowerment won them a place in the top ten of 650 nominations at the ceremony.
The Chief Minister said that such organisations inspire others to work towards the betterment of the society. This award brings a great sense of gratitude and encouragement to the hard-working staff of FFLV, who hope to continue serving Vrindavan for many years to come.
