Devotees thronged Vrindavan to celebrate the New Year under the Divine Shelter

Vrindavan, 2017.01.01 (VT): Vrja Bhumi celebrates New Year of 2017 with the devotees coming from around the world. Millions of devotees from Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and other places thronged Vrindavan and other towns of Vraja on the eve of New Year. The streets were crowded, as the visiting devotees came here to spend the beginning of the New Year under the Divine Shelter.
Banke Bihari Temple attracted the most of the crowd as the number of visitors broke the record of past several years. The crowd in the other temples was not much lesser than the Banke Bihari Mandir. Shri Krishna Janmasthan and Dwarkadheesh Mandir of Mathura, Radha Rani Mandir in Varsana, Nand Bhavan in Nandgaon, and the temples in Gokul also drew a large number of crowd. Thousands performed Giriraj Parikrama in Govardhan.
Devotees gathered in the Saptadevalya Temples of Radha Raman, Radha Shyam Sundar, Radha Damodar etc. at the Mangala Arati, before sunrise to begin the day of the New Year with the Lordships of Vrindavan.
Several cultural events were organized on the 31st December and on the first day of the year. Chaitanya Sampradayacharya Acharya Shri Venu Gopal Goswami distributed the divine nectar with his melodious bhajan at Bhramar Ghat and Shri Radha Raman Mandir. The devotees became ecstatic during the ‘bhajan’ and danced on the tunes of the divine melody.
A devotee from Delhi donated a ‘Singhasan’ (alter) made of silver for Laadli ji at Radha Rani Mandir in Varsana. The weight of the ‘Singhasan’ is 31 kg, while it cost Rupees 21 lac. The devotees offered many valuable items to the temples along with the cash donation.
The vehicles coming from outside were stopped in the border of the town. Visitors used auto rickshaws, e-rickshaws etc. to enter the town.
