Vrindavan, 2017.01.27 (Prawal Krishna): The Vrindavan Parikrama Marg is set for a facelift under the central government’s project HRIDAY (heart).

HRIDAY – which stands for “Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana,” – was launched in the holy city of Mathura by the veteran actress and local MP, Ms. Hema Malini.

The project is being implemented by the Mathura District Administration under the supervision and monitoring of The Braj Foundation. Considering the quality and aesthetic of their previous projects restoring Lord Krishna’s heritage sites in the Braj area, The Braj Foundation has also been selected as “City Anchor” for the Mathura-Vrindavan region, to execute other phases of this project.

Talking to the media, the Chairman of The Braj Foundation, Mr. Vineet Narain, said that initially the embellishment will be done from Raman Reti to Vihar Ghat.

According to the DPR submitted to the central government, The Braj Foundation will be beautifying the whole stretch along with providing basic amenities for devotees like a tourist information centre, a washroom, fresh drinking water, kuchha parikrama marg (an earthen walking area) alongside the concrete road, better lighting, beautification of the ancient ghats by freeing them from encroachments, better signage, plants and trees, seating facilities for devotees, waste bins and souvenir shops. The entire parikrama marg, along with its ghats, will be revamped in the future phases of the HRIDAY project.

Work has already begun on Karoli Ghat and Vrindavan Parikrama Marg. The project also covers the revamping of Chatta Bazar market in front of the Dwarkadhish temple in Mathura, which will start soon.
