Ahead of President visit to Vrindavan, elaborate security arrangements

Mathura, 2015.11.11 (PTI): Uttar Pradesh government has made elaborate security arrangements for the visit of President Pranab Mukherjee to Vrindavan for about two hours on November 18. The official sources here today said the President will reach Vrindavan helipad at 11 hours and would go to Radha Raman temple, traveling six kilometers by car.

Mr Mukherjee would attend a function at the temple on 500th padarpan of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Later he will attend another programme in Vrindavan. The President is expected to return back to New Delhi at around 1300 hours.

Meanwhile, in view of the President’s visit, UP government would be deplying 10 SP, 4 ASP, 16 DSP, 30 Sub-inspectors, 250 constables and 200 traffic police for the security of the VVIP. Besides this, eight companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and two platoons of the PAC flood relief company will also be deployed during the programme.

The district administration has also made elaborate arrangements and beefed up security in the city and nearby areas as several lakh pilgrims are expected to congregate in Mathura during Diwali. The MVDA and Public Works Department are also engaged in cleaning the Parikrama Marg (VIP Marg) and preparing the helipad, as well as inspecting all the venues the President will visit.

“The security in the temples have been beefed up with the posting of armed as well as police in plain cloth in and around the temples,” DM said.

“Arrangements for plying of special buses for Vrindavan, Govardhan, Gokul, Barsana and Nandgaon have also been made. There will be no dearth of buses for Vrindavan, Govardhan Barsana,” he said.

Besides, a massive drive against adulteration has been initiated by the designated Food Safety and Drug Administration officers to ensure sale ofpure sweets.

Arrangement have also been made to ensure that vehicle- borne pilgrims do not face problem here either for parking or traffic jam.

“The one-way traffic plan is being strictly enforced in Vrindavan, Govardhan and Mathura,” SSP Rakesh Singh said.

With the Goverdhan Puja and Yam Dwiteeya also falling during the eve, special arrangements have been taken into consideration for the pilgrims.

“Elaborate arrangements have been made for bathing ceremony. Not only bathing area has been encircled by boats, but services of swimmers have also been hired to prevent incidence of drowning.

“Since the bathing starts after midnight, day type of light through high mask light system, etc., has been ensured. The police help has also been sought to prevent incidents of pick pocketing or lifting of luggage of pilgrims,” Manisha Gupta, the Chairman of Mathura Nagar Palika said.
