Preparations at Kusum Sarovar in full swing

Govardhan, 2015.11.14 (AU, DJ, AU) Arrangements at Kusum Sarovar by Giriraj Govardhana are underway on a war footing as preparations for the coming of the Chief Minister and other VIPs will be coming there on November 17.

Work has been going on day and night in preparation for the Vrindavan Prakash Mahotsav event in commemoration of Mahaprabhu’s journey of discovery to Vrindavan 500 years ago. Kirtan artists from all over India and other countries will have eight days in which to showcase their talent.

The venue in Kusum Sarovar as well as on the Parikrama Marg near the venue, where the road is being smoothed with truckloads of dirt.

Furthermore, repair work and decorations are being placed on the Kusum Sarovar monument itself, one of Braj’s most important heritage buildings, in preparation for the CM’s arrival.

A floating platform has been constructed on the Sarovar itself as a stage for presenting the cultural program.

Charkula dance to be part of the program

The intricate stonework and architecture of the Kusum Sarovar monument, which attracts visitors from around the world, will play host to sankirtan and religious music from all regions of the country. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will inaugurate the festival on November 17.

The program will open with the famous fire dancing, which will be performed  by the Braj Folk Arts Foundation. Foundation spokesperson Dani Sharma said the group will dance with six Charkulas, or multiwicked lamps. Then the famous Haldar Group will do kirtan with 108 mridangas and 108 manjira or kartal hand cymbals.

CM to honor ten individuals

Ten selected celebrities will be invited on stage during the event to receive honors from the CM. The event manager, Niharika said that one of these will be Mathura MP Hema Malini. The management of the event is a company from Delhi, Show Craft Productions, which is also decorating the two venues, one at Fogla Ashram in Vrindavan and the other in Kusum Sarovar.

Company officials said they want to highlight the ancient ideal picture of Braj, emphasizing the role of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Lord Krishna therein.

Arrangements for 3000 people

The venu has been arranged to seat at least 3000 people. All will have to pass through a main entrance to reach the site.

Besides the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, several ministers, MPs and MLAs will also join the program. Seating arrangements have been made all round the lake. A special gallery for seating VVIPs where not only the CM will sit but other guests and members of the organizing committee.

More than 3000 devotees and admirers of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu from around the world are expected to be in the audience.

The main organizer of the festival,   Vaishnavacharya Abhishek Goswami, said that pilgrims have already begun arriving for the occasion. By the evening of November 16, devotees invited from over 80 countries around the world will have arrived in Vrindavan. The festival will be inaugurated at Kusum Sarovar on November 17. The rest of the eight-day event will be held in Vrindavan.

Magistrate Rajesh Kumar, SSP Rakesh Singh, Ajay Kumar Awasthi ADM (Administration), SDM Biswabhushan Mishra, local police commander Brijpal Yadav, Samajwadi Party leader Pradeep Chaudhary, all visited Kusum Sarovar on Saturday to take stock of the state of preparedness.

Strict security arrangements

With the influx of Very Very Important People in Vrindavan for the last week of Karttik, with all the different events taking place, the tightest possible security arrangements are being made.
Amongst those expected to visit the Dham are President Mukherjee, UP Governor Ram Naik, and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

The special security forces of the police (SPG0 The whole security system will take approximately 3,000 young. Tomorrow a Special Protection Group (SPG) team will take over responsibility for security. Yesterday SPG officials inspected the entire venue from the helipad on.

A special safe landing trial will be made at one or more of the five helipads in the Vrindavan area. The district administration has asked for additional manpower from 10 UP districts. Security arrangements at Govardhan has been distributed into six sectors, while there arw 25 such sectors in Vrindavan where the President is expected.

Though the principal events are related to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s Vrindavan visit 500 years ago, the president, governor and chief minister will all participate in other activities also. On November 17 Governor Ram Naik will also visit the Veterinary University in Mathura to preside over the annual convocation.

On November 18, the President will participate at a program in Vrindavan. He will be present to receive the governor and chief minister.

The district administration trio met to make VVIP security plans. 10 IPS officers, 16 ASP, CO 37, 1650 Sep, 240 inspectors, 75 female officers, 25 female inspectors, 150 traffic officers, eight companies and two platoons from the Provincial Additional Constabulary.

Meanwhile, for the President, 16 ADMs, 16 SP, 25 SDM, 25 deputy SP were brought in from other districts. 2000 people will be in the auditorium at the Dhanuka School where the President is to speak, with 120 spaces being arranged for special guests. On stage space will be set aside for 11-12 people.

The Delhi Police SPG and security personnel will handle arrangements for the Governor on the 18th.

A year ago, the district administration constructed five helipads at the Annapurna parking lot in Vrindavan, and an Air Force helicopter made safe landing in trials on on November 16.

VVIP security in the district also includes three bomb disposal squads, anti-mine and other specialists.

Also, state and central intelligence department have sent 150 troops into Govardhan and Vrindavan. In Vrindavan, the road between Atalla Chungi and the Annapurna helipad will be closed during the President’s motorcade. One can expect detours on the Mathura-Vrindavan road, Chattikara-Vrindavan road and on roads connecting to the Yamuna Expressway.
