Vrindavan, 2017.05.01 (VT): With Yogi Adityanath’s government focused on developing roads to and within the State’s pilgrimage destinations, the road to Govardhan is also getting an upgrade. A new six-lane highway will soon connect Govardhan to Jaipur and Agra.
The new highway will run from NH-2 at Chhatikara to Govardhan, then through Adeeng and Sonkh, before connecting to the Bharatpur highway. It is not clear if this will be an addition to the existing smaller road, or a completely new undertaking. Either way, the land for the project will be purchased by the government from local farmers.
A consultant from Jaipur presented the plan before the Deputy Chief Minister and the Public Works Minister, Keshav Prasad Maurya. Pending their approval, the project was to be submitted to the central government with a request for funds. It appears the plan has already been submitted.
Once complete, the new highway will be about 100 kilometres in length.
