Vrindavan, 2017.05.04 (VT, DJ): Last week fifty school-age girls from Vrindavan had their photos secretly taken from inappropriate angles and uploaded on Facebook with lewd captions by an unidentified person.
The victims filed a complaint with police with the help of Dr. Lakshmi Gautam, president of the Kanakdhara foundation, after the matter was discovered.
Finding the police’s reponse insufficient, the girls protested at the police station. The demonstration was covered by the media, who helped broadast their demand of quick and firm action.
Soon after, the surveillance branch of the police department contacted Facebook’s headquarters asking for assistance. Within two hours, they had the information they needed to locate the suspect.
The suspect has not yet been named, but he has been apprehended and is currently undergoing questioning.
