Vrindavan, 2017.05.28 (VT): The chairman of the railway board Mr. A.K. Mittal announced on Saturday that Mathura Junction Railway Station would get a major rennovation. The announcement was made at Agra Cantonment on Saturday.
Mathura Station is one of 400 stations in the A and A-1 category chosen for the upgrade.
Mathura Junction will be come a multi-story complex. Every floor will feature different amenities for travellers including a hotel, retiring rooms, a library, restaurants and a food court. Escalators and lifts will be provided, and substandard food kiosks will be removed from the patforms.
Mr. Mittal said that the upgraded stations will be between five and ten floors in height. Work on the first twenty-five stations is set to begin immediately.
Agra Cantonment is also on the upgrade list.
