Sanatana Dharma Conference. The Ram Rajya Parishad is holding a two-day conference to discuss how Sanatan Dharma can positively impact governance. Swami Nishchalanand Maharaj said, today India’s governance is empty of spiritualism, as we can see by the neglect of the Yamuna. On the agenda for the conference are issues relating to river cleaning, cow protection and fraudsters who are more interested in claiming credit than actual accomplishments. Ram Rajya Parishad will also launch their new website. The conference will be held at Harihar Ashram, Vrindavan, with the first session on 3rd October at 7-9pm, followed by two sessions on 4th October; 10-12pm and 5-7pm. Read more (Hindi)

Abhishek of Braj’s tallest deity. Yesterday the proceedings at Sankarshan Kund began with a maha-abhishek of Sankarshan Bhagvan. Sankarshan is one of Balaram’s primary names. Balaram, or Dauji, as he is affectionately referred to in Braj, is the elder brother of Sri Krishna. Yesterday, the abhishek was performed by priests as well as by officials from The Braj Foundation, the organization that has put in years of hard work to restore Sankarshan Kund. There will be abhishek ceremonies at the kund for the next three days, and there is talk that Baba Ramdev may come to see Sankarshan Bhagvan on 6th October. Read more (Hindi)

Cows rescued from Smugglers. On Sunday at midnight in Chaumuhan, Mathura, 13 cows were rescued when smugglers fled, abandoning their truck after being pursued by civilians and police. Seeing the activity of the smugglers, two cars began pursuit of the truck. Mathura resident Dwarka Dikshit alerted police who arrived on the scene but, by that time, the smugglers had fled. The rescued cows are being sent to Sripad Gaushala, Vrindavan, for care and treatment. The smugglers have yet to be apprehended. Read more (Hindi)

Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti Cleanliness drive. Understanding the true message of Mahatma Gandhi, schools and local companies held a joint flag-raising ceremony and cleanliness drive at Gandhi Park, Vrindavan. In India, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti has traditionally been celebrated as a public holiday, however, in recent years, with Prime Minister Modi’s pledge to truly follow Gandhi’s philosophy, some schools and organizations have begun observing the day as a sanitation drive. At the rally, representatives from the Deputy Collector’s Office, CO Office, Department of Rural Development, Akrur Inter-College, Gandhi Inter-College, Sadolal Bhargava Girls’ Inter-College, Christian Vineyard Public School, Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Ginni Filaments and Chhata Sugar Mill were present.
