Mathura police file FIR against a dead man

Agra, 2017.05.30 (TOI): Mathura police have come under flak for registering a case of cheating against a deceased person, Babulal Prajapati who died in 2008.

The case was registered by the Highway Police on May 25 on a complaint forwarded by the DM. The DM had ordered the police to take appropriate action in the complaint of one Neeraj Agarwal, who had appeared before him during a public hearing and accused the management of Real Public School, Chandrapuri, Mathura, of paying him lesser salary than promised.

Apparently, the Highway Police, without conducting proper investigations, booked three people, including the deceased, for cheating.

According to Puneet Prajapati, grandson of Babulal Prajapati, his grandfather had died in February 2008 and he was surprised to learn that an FIR had been registered against him. He said that he has given an application to SSP in this regard on Tuesday.

Puneet alleged that Neeraj has been making false allegations and contrary to his claims he himself had been booked for cheating. He said a case of cheating had been registered against Neeraj last year on the basis of a complaint filed.

He said Neeraj had been removed for his various acts of indiscipline and he started making the allegations after leaving the institute.

Jitendra Singh, in charge of Thana Highway, said the FIR against the Babulal Prajapati was registered on the basis of complainant sent by the DM.

When contacted, DM Arvind Malappa Banagari said that there was some “error” in the FIR and will be rectified soon. He said the complainant had apparently concealed the facts so action would be taken against him.
