Clik here to view.Vrindavan, 2015.12.09 (VT): In protest against the government takeover of the Bankebihari Temple of Vrindavan and the Vindhya Vasini Devi Temple of Mirapur, the markets of Vrindavan remained closed. The ‘bandh’ was jointly called by the Udyog Vyar Mandal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
The most popular Bankebihari Temple main entrance witnessed an agitation for the fifth consecutive day. The Dharma Raksha Sangh, along with the Goswamis from the temples and many locals, rallied for a complete shutdown. They were joined by the Brahman Seva Sangh and the Trade Union of Vrindavan.
The rally which began at the Bankebihari Temple passed via prominent streets and markets, and finally returned to the temple. Many eminent personalities showed their support by being present at the rally. Pooran Prakash said that the government takeover of such popular and prestigious temples which are dear to scores of devotees is entirely unacceptable. BJP’s District Secretary Devendra Sharma said that the Uttar Pradesh government is destroying religious culture by this process. Brahman Seva Sangh head Chandra Lal Sharma and Acharya Ananda Vallabha Goswami said that the government is hurting the religious sentiments of millions of devotees. The Goswami Samaj of the Radharani Temple has also strictly opposed this move. They convened a meeting in which the Temple’s Advocate Sanjay Goswami said that such a takeover by the government will never be tolerated. Dr. K.A.M. Goswami said that this act by the government is unlawful while others said that those involved have unfulfilled selfish interests in pursuance of which they have taken such a drastic step.
