Suspects of the Mahant’s murder arrested

Govardhan, 2015.12.12: Three suspects in connection with the murder of Mahant Parameshvar Das in Kirar Ashram two days ago have been arrested. Police said that the boys were infuriated by the Mahant’s illicit activities. On the night of 8th December, in the Akhil Bharatiya Kirar Ashram at Govardhan, Baba Parameshvar Das had been strangulated and assaulted by bricks. The accused, Rajbhan Chaturvedi, his brother Vimalesh Chaturvedi, and Rahul Garg hail from Purvajhar Panna District, Madhya Pradesh.

Investigation revealed that the three accused were the Mahant’s disciples and took the drastic step when infuriated by their Guru’s immoral activities. They engaged in a fierce fight with the Mahant during which they assaulted him with bricks. When he fell unconscious, they murdered him. The Mahant’s godbrother Tulasidas alleged that the Mahant had collected ornaments and cash worth eight lakhs for a religious function which was missing after the murder. The police have denied any loot by the accused. Investigation has revealed that one of the accused, Rahul Garg, is also wanted in the hacking of a woman to death in 2013, and may now be sentenced to life-imprisonment.
