Bhagvat Niwas celebrated ‘ the Viraha Mahotsava’ of its departed Mahant

Vrindavan, 2015.12.11 (VT): Bhagavat Nivas on Ramanreti Marg celebrated the ‘Viraha Mahotsava’,123 disappearance festival of Mahant Shri Ram Gopal Das Babaji on Thursday. Baba Ram Gopal Das, who was the president of Thakur Girindra Bihari Trust, which manages the ashram, passed away on 11.10.2015. Shri Ram Gopal Das Babaji was the president of the trust since 1993, and was honored as Mahant of the ashram.
After the worship of the Samadhi of Ramgopal Das Maharaj, the saints who gathered to pay their obeisance to the departed saint, glorified him as an integral part of the saints in Vrindavan.
Mahant Sachinandan Das said, “Mahant Ram Gopal Das surrendered his life to service of the Vaishnavas.” Shri Girraj Nangia said, “Baba believed in austerity for the saints. He always insisted the practice of ‘madhukuri’ for the saints residing in the ashram.”
“Shri Ram Gopal Das Baba ji spent principled life, which is an example for the resident saints of Bhagwat Niwas,” said Pt. Bihari Lal Bashishtha from Brahman Maha Sabha. Scores of saints came from all over the Vraja Mandal praised the devotional life spent by the departed saint.
A grand feast (bhandara), Bhagwat Saptaha, Nonstop Harinam- Sankirtan was also organized to commemorate Shri Ram Gopal Baba. His successor, Shri Sukhdev Das Babaji thanked everyone for participating in the ‘Viraha Mahotsava’. He sought the blessings of the saints to strengthen the devotional legacy of Ram Gopal Baba.
Mahant Fuldol Bihari Das, Mahamandaleshwar Naval Giri, Shri Bal Krishna Goutam, Mahant Prem Das Shashtri, Jagdish Neelam and many other saints and Brajwasis were present during the event.
